As a massive comic book fan and someone who has been getting back into reading recently, I am super excited to have finally got my hands on the first few issues of the series: THE FUTURE IS REDACTED.

As of now I am solely stuck to the digital versions that have recently become available on the Spearphish General Store, but I’m still extremely happy to have finally been able to begin reading this fantastic series.

I have been working my way through the challenges in the first four issues and the free Wild West Hackin’ Fest issue over the past few weeks, and wanted to share my solutions and progress in them as I go along.

Similar to my OverTheWire Bandit Writeup, each issue will be split into it’s own post and linked here. This will be updated as I read more of the issues and put together my writeups for the challenges.

What is THE FUTURE IS REDACTED?

THE FUTURE IS REDACTED is a 60 issue cybersecurity comic series inspired by media like WarGames, and is published by REKCAH COMICS, who is a part of BLACK HILLS INFORMATION SECURITY.

The series combines futuristic technology and blockbuster action into comic books made by actual hackers and an extremely talented team: writer Fred Van Lente, artist Ennio Bufi, colorist Andrea Meloni, and letterer Taylor Esposito.

The first issue released early 2025, and as of writing this post, the 17th issue is the most recent release.
